Our story

started with a simple idea. Everyone should have a bit of space to slow down, use their hands and make something they're proud of.

It's run by Katy, a qualified teacher who's currently studying art psychotherapy at the University of South Wales. Both come from the same belief behind Glazed & Confused: that making something with your hands is genuinely good for you. Ceramics has been a quiet way to slow down for years, and these pop-ups are a lovely way to share that. Painting a mug or a bowl gives your hands something gentle to do and your mind a moment to settle, no pressure, no experience needed, just paint and good company.

With a qualified teacher at the helm, the sessions are easy-going even with a room full of children, so families can relax and enjoy it too. There's always a patient hand for a nervous first-timer or a wriggly four-year-old alike, and the hope is always that people leave a little calmer and rather proud of what they made.

Every fortnight, a table of bisque pieces and plenty of paints go out, and anyone who fancies it can join in. Everything is glazed and fired at a local kiln studio nearby in Bristol, so your piece comes back glossy and ready to use. Seeing someone pick up a finished mug or bowl they made is the favourite part of the day.
